BTCS Prepares Imperium DeFi Unit for Tokenized Stock Liquidity Provision

BTCS Inc., a Nasdaq-listed company, is positioning its Imperium DeFi unit to become a liquidity provider for tokenized stocks under a new SEC exemption. The company has completed the preparatory compliance work required for potential reliance on the SEC's Covered Firm exemption.

This includes submitting a notice to the regulator and publishing required disclosures. However, BTCS emphasizes that it has not received a broker-dealer license for Imperium and that the SEC has not endorsed its tokenized-equity strategy.

The SEC exemption is conditional temporary relief from the dealer definition for qualifying firms providing liquidity through automated market maker pools on eligible tokenized-securities venues. BTCS says it has completed the steps needed to potentially operate within this framework, but tokenized-equity liquidity provisioning has not yet commenced.
