BTCS Repays Aave Debt as Ethereum Balance Sheet Strategy Shifts
BTCS Inc., a company involved in digital assets and DeFi activity, has made significant changes to its balance sheet strategy. In its Q2 2026 Form 10-Q filing, BTCS reported that it repaid $8.2 million in debt to the Aave protocol.
This move suggests that BTCS was actively reducing leverage rather than simply carrying the same borrowing profile forward. Reducing debt can lower liquidation risk and simplify the balance sheet, but it also shows how closely some crypto companies are tied to on-chain lending conditions.
BTCS ended the quarter with $317,113 in cash and stablecoins, which may look low at first glance. However, this figure should be read alongside the rest of the balance sheet, including digital assets, staking exposure, and outstanding DeFi loans.
