BTCS Shifts Focus to Gross Profit, Expands Imperium Deployment
BTCS, a blockchain infrastructure and DeFi operations company, has shifted its focus from revenue growth to maximizing gross profit. At the Water Tower Research Virtual Insights Conference on September 23, 2026, CEO Charles Allen explained that this strategic pivot was made at the start of 2026.
The company's Q2 2026 gross profit rose to $1.5 million, up from $1 million in Q1, with a gross margin of 61%. BTCS is on track for a $6 million full-year gross profit target tied to management KPIs. The company has also expanded Imperium deployment from $8 million at the end of Q2 to $36 million currently after deploying $10 million of new capital.
Allen stated that recent SEC and CFTC moves on tokenized assets and DeFi support the company's long-term model. BTCS believes it is still the only U.S. public company using DeFi as a funding mechanism for its business, which gives it fast access to capital without traditional financing delays.
The company has also reduced its Ethereum position earlier in 2026 during a period of market volatility and kept a directional long position while using leverage and LP structures to protect the balance sheet. BTCS is trading at or near net asset value on a fully diluted basis, assuming convertible debt conversion.
