Buffett Hands Over Reins After 60 Years
Warren Buffett has officially stepped down as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway after more than 60 years at the company. He has taken on the title of Chairman Emeritus and will remain on the board, while his son Howard G. Buffett succeeds him as chairman.
Buffett, 96, praised CEO Greg Abel for taking control of the day-to-day decisions and described his son as the guardian of the company's culture and values in a shareholder letter dated September 18, 2026.
The leadership change at Berkshire Hathaway is considered a major corporate milestone, but it is unlikely to have any significant impact on crypto markets or DeFi adoption.
