Buffett Steps Down as Berkshire Chairman: No Crypto Shift in Sight
Warren Buffett has stepped down as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway after a 56-year tenure, becoming chairman emeritus. The 96-year-old's son Howard Buffett will take over as non-executive chairman, while Greg Abel remains CEO.
The change in leadership does not signal a shift in Berkshire's stance on cryptocurrency, which Buffett has consistently rejected. He famously called Bitcoin 'rat poison squared' in 2018 and said he wouldn't pay $25 for all the world's BTC at the 2022 annual meeting.
Berkshire's investment policy remains unchanged, with Abel responsible for capital allocation decisions. The company still holds no Bitcoin or crypto-related assets, adhering to Buffett's principle of valuing companies by earnings and balance sheet.
