Bulgaria Mandates Crypto Exchanges to Share User Data by June 2027

Share

Bulgaria has joined the list of EU countries to implement the DAC8 directive, which requires crypto-asset service providers to submit user records and transaction data to the tax authority. The Bulgarian parliament voted unanimously to mandate this reporting, with a first filing deadline set for June 30, 2027.

The law applies to licensed crypto-asset service providers, also known as CASPs, which must collect and submit personal identification details and transaction specifics to the National Revenue Agency (NRA). There is no de minimis threshold, meaning every transaction counts, regardless of amount or value.

This reporting mandate builds on Bulgaria's existing regulatory foundation, including its Markets in Crypto-Assets Act, adopted in 2025. The country has aligned with the EU's MiCA regime and is scheduled to join the eurozone in January 2026.
