Bullish Leads Coalition to Standardize Tokenized Securities
A coalition of financial and tech firms has formed to standardize tokenized securities. The Issuer Sponsored Token Coalition, formed by Bullish (NYSE: BLSH) and Equiniti, aims to develop technical standards and operational frameworks for tokenized securities that preserve issuer-shareholder relationships and existing investor protections.
The coalition's stated goal is interoperability between tokenized securities and both traditional capital markets infrastructure and blockchain networks. This means issuer-sponsored tokens would work across multiple platforms, not just isolated crypto-native venues.
According to the coalition, many current 'tokenized equity' products are synthetic instruments that track a stock's price without conferring actual shareholder rights. The new standards aim to address this issue by building around issuer-sponsored tokens that preserve shareholder relationships and protections.
