Business-Focused Stablecoin Open USD Launches With Major Partners
Open USD, a dollar stablecoin aimed at businesses rather than consumers, has been launched by Open Standard on September 30th. This new token has four integration paths run by prominent companies: Coinbase, Mastercard, Stripe, and Visa.
The unusual aspect of this launch is that two of these companies, Visa and Mastercard, compete directly in the market, while another pair, Stripe and Coinbase, also compete in payments. Despite this competition, all four companies are offering APIs for the same token alongside over 200 financial institutions, fintechs, banks, and global businesses listed as partners by Open Standard.
Not all of these integration paths are live yet. Businesses can start building today using BVNK, Stripe, and the Visa Stablecoin Platform, while Coinbase will open on October 1st. Mastercard is mentioned as an integration path but does not appear in the list of available options currently.
