Busy Investors, Not Price or Regulation, Stifle Crypto Adoption, Says Bitwise CEO
Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley has identified the biggest hurdle to cryptocurrency adoption as investors being too busy. Speaking with Wolf Of The All Street, Horsley stated that crypto has cleared ten years of other hurdles, including no exchanges, no qualified custodians, and government shutdown fears.
However, Horsley noted that the most common pushback Bitwise receives now is from advisors saying their clients aren't asking about crypto. Some advisors at large firms still don't know they have access to Bitcoin, despite approving Bitwise products more than a year ago.
Horsley emphasized the importance of a balanced market, stating that a steady rise in price rather than a massive dip or surge is more conducive to adoption. The Bitwise CEO also highlighted the trend of advisors swapping clients' self-custodied Bitcoin and Solana into ETF shares, citing 'peace of mind' and 'simplicity' as the reasons.
The Bitwise NEAR ETF has attracted over $50 million in net inflows, and Horsley sees index products as an emerging bridge between AI and crypto. He expects these uses to start showing up in client portfolios sometime next year.
