Buterin: Bitcoin's Core Security Architecture Unlikely to be Compromised
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has expressed confidence in Bitcoin's long-term technical resilience. In a recent statement, he emphasized that Bitcoin is well-equipped to handle network-layer attacks through coordinated upgrades to clients and mining pools.
Buterin drew a distinction between two categories of challenges: those solvable through software and infrastructure upgrades, and those requiring broader community agreement or protocol-level social consensus. He believes that Bitcoin can effectively manage the former category.
The Ethereum co-founder addressed concerns about emerging technologies, particularly AI, potentially undermining Bitcoin's security architecture. However, he characterized the probability of SHA-256 or proof-of-work being successfully broken as 'tiny.'
