Buterin Defies AI-Driven Crypto Crash Thesis with Verification Call

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has spoken out against the idea that AI could undermine Bitcoin's security and trigger a major price collapse. According to him, roughly 90% of his net worth is tied to cryptocurrency, which gives him substantial exposure to the outcome of the crypto security debate.

Buterin argued that AI could strengthen formal verification rather than increasing hacking capabilities. He believes that increasingly capable systems could help developers formally verify whether critical software satisfies clearly defined security requirements.

The Ethereum co-founder wants stronger verification to extend beyond blockchain code into applications, operating systems, and hardware. He thinks that AI can prove complex mathematical statements, so it could also prove that complicated programs satisfy security definitions.
