Investor Liron Shapira believes that artificial intelligence (AI) will undermine the security of Bitcoin, predicting a 50% drop in price within two years. He estimates this probability at 50%, but Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, is less concerned. In an interview, Buterin stated that he assigns minimal risk to a break in hash functions or proof of work.

According to Shapira's prediction, a drop below $39,750 would be required for his scenario to play out, based on the current price of around $79,500. However, Buterin is optimistic about long-term cybersecurity and believes that most vulnerabilities can be fixed before they compromise the network.

Buterin also clarified that he already has a significant portion of his fortune invested in cryptocurrencies, specifically Ether, which could lose value if AI were to reveal a major vulnerability. His current investments represent a position against Shapira's scenario, rather than an additional investment.
