Bybit Derivatives Volume Surges 14.9% to $321 Billion in August
Bybit's derivatives trading volume surged to $321 billion in August, an increase of 14.9% from the previous month, according to data cited in a recent CoinDesk Research report on centralized exchange activity.
This growth pushed Bybit into second place among major exchanges by trading volume, with a 5.26% market share for August. The overall combined trading volumes across CEXs rose 12.7% to $4.29 trillion in August, rebounding from multi-year lows recorded in July.
The surge in crypto prices was largely driven by the recovery of Bitcoin, which rallied from around $63,000 at the start of the month to a three-month high above $80,000 on August 25, following US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's announcement to dampen Treasury yields. However, spot prices eased lower in the final days of the month after hawkish remarks from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh.
The report also highlighted the growing popularity of real-world asset (RWA) perpetuals, a category that has expanded steadily throughout 2026. Bybit's TradFi Perpetuals, which support over 250 trading pairs across traditional financial assets covering equities, commodities, and global ETFs, have contributed significantly to this growth.
