Bybit has expanded its European footprint after securing an electronic money institution (EMI) license from Austria's Financial Market Authority (FMA). The license enables Bybit Payments to provide regulated e-money services on Bybit.eu, marking a key regulatory step for the platform in Europe.

The EMI framework provides the foundation for launching future payment features, including peer-to-peer transfers and card initiatives. These features will be available through Bybit.eu, a regulated entity that has held MiCAR crypto approval since May 2025. Bybit Payments GmbH plans to launch over five features, including P2P transfers, open banking, and card services.

Bybit's strategy reflects a broader trend across Europe, where firms are securing dual authorizations to bridge traditional finance and digital assets. The company maintains separate corporate entities, with Bybit Payments handling fiat and e-money operations while Bybit EU GmbH manages digital assets.
