Bybit Surges Past Coinbase as Second-Largest Crypto Exchange Amid Binance Turmoil
Bybit has taken the second spot as the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, surpassing Coinbase in market share. According to Kaiko's June 25 report, Bybit's market share surged from 8% to 16% since October, outpacing Coinbase's 1% increase during the same period.
This growth can be attributed to Binance's decline in market share due to regulatory challenges. Binance's market share fell from 60% to 54% since October, coinciding with its regulatory troubles. The exchange faced a $4.3 billion settlement with U.S. officials in November 2023 for Anti-Money Laundering violations.
Bybit's competitive fees and secure platform have likely contributed to its success. As per Kaiko, Bybit's average fees are among the lowest in the industry, alongside Binance and OKX. Ben Zhou, Bybit's co-founder and CEO, attributes their growth to a commitment to 'competitive fees, a secure platform, and innovative products that has resonated with our users'.
