California Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Kidnapping and Bitcoin Heist
A California man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his involvement in a kidnapping and Bitcoin robbery scheme.
Adam Iza, 26, was found guilty of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery after pleading guilty on June 1. His brother, Saif Faiq, also pleaded guilty to the same offense and is awaiting sentencing.
The incident occurred in August 2024 when officers from the Danbury Police Department arrested six Florida men who were involved in a violent carjacking of a Lamborghini Urus and the kidnapping of two people. The victims were the parents of a man who allegedly participated in the theft of hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin.
Iza communicated with some of the kidnappers by cellphone and encrypted messaging applications, directing them on the logistics of the scheme and providing funding. He was detained since September 24, 2024, after being charged with unrelated federal offenses in California.
