Canaan Q2FY26 Results: $100M Net Loss Amid Crypto Market Downturn
Canaan Inc., the cryptocurrency mining equipment maker, reported a significant decline in revenue and net loss for its second-quarter FY26 results. The company's total revenue contracted by more than two-thirds to $31.9 million, with product sales plummeting over 80% year-over-year to $13.6 million.
The collapse in both product sales and mining operations led to a widening of the net loss to nearly $100 million, up from $11 million in the same period last year. The decline was driven by a slump in cryptocurrency values, reducing the market value of assets recognized upon award.
Canaan's balance sheet shows that it held cash totaling less than $70 million at the end of June and is executing a share buyback program committed to spending $30 million through the end of the year. The company continues to accumulate digital assets, holding 1,915.5 bitcoins as of end-June, up approximately 29% from a year earlier.
