Canaan's Heat Reuse Technology Heats Up Homes in Nordic Region
Canaan Inc., a leading provider of computing and energy infrastructure, is showcasing its innovative approach to heat reuse at BTCHEL in Helsinki, Finland. The company's technology helps energy providers decarbonize district heating by turning Bitcoin mining into a contributor to sustainable energy infrastructure.
One notable example of this initiative is the 8 MW Nordic district heating project, which has been fully online since September 2026. This installation has delivered heat to approximately 2,800 homes in the region. The hot water produced at around 80°C feeds directly into existing district heating networks.
Canaan's Avalon A1566HA hydro-cooled units are used for this project, which were selected by a leading Nordic heating provider after a competitive evaluation. These units have replaced conventional heating solutions and provide a sustainable alternative to traditional energy sources.
