Canadian Crypto Ownership Hits 25%, but Understanding Lags Behind

Share

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has released its latest survey on crypto adoption in Canada. The results show that ownership of cryptocurrency among Canadians has risen to 25% in 2026, a significant increase from 10% in 2023.

The survey polled over 2,360 adults aged 18 and above between December 2025 and January 2026. It found that 59% of respondents are aware of crypto assets, while 25% reported owning them.

While awareness has increased, the OSC noted a concern that many owners misunderstand core protections such as regulation, insurance coverage, and transaction capabilities.
