Tokenized Real-World Assets Overtake Bitcoin in Trading Volume
Tokenized real-world assets (RWA) are gaining traction on digital-asset exchanges, surpassing even Bitcoin in trading volume. According to a report by Talos, RWA perpetual futures on Hyperliquid and Binance reached $37.2 billion this week, a 9% increase over Bitcoin perpetual futures volume during the same period. This represents a significant shift in market activity, with RWA perpetual futures accounting for 99.2% of Bitcoin's trading volume over the past seven days.
The majority of RWA trading volume comes from tokenized equities, which accounted for 57.8% of total RWA perpetual futures volume, followed by tokenized commodities at 28.2%. Hyperliquid is leading the charge in RWA perpetual futures trading, with its platform reaching $25.1 billion in volume from July 13 to July 19.
This trend suggests that investors are increasingly drawn to tokenized products tied to real-world assets, which offer a new level of exposure and diversification in the digital-asset market.
