Canary Capital Files Staked SEI ETF Plans, Sending SEI Price Soaring
Canary Capital has filed an Amendment No. 2 to its S-1 form with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, detailing plans for a Staked SEI Exchange Traded Fund. This filing marks the next step in the company's expansion into the crypto ETF market, following its launch of the Tron TRX Exchange Traded Funds last month.
The new fund will hold spot altcoins, meaning it will actually possess the underlying assets rather than tracking their price through a contract. It plans to stake around 90% of its altcoins, with BitGo as the sole custodian.
SEI's price reacted positively to the news, jumping by 16.5% according to CoinGecko data. This follows a similar trend after the launch of the TRX fund, which has seen relatively little inflow activity so far.
