Canary Updates PEPE ETF Filing, Unlocking Institutional Exposure
Canary Capital has updated its registration statement with the SEC for a proposed PEPE exchange-traded fund, a move that could unlock institutional exposure to the asset and boost its liquidity and market cap.
The asset manager submitted Pre-Effective Amendment No. 1 to Form S-1 on October 2, 2026, for the Canary PEPE ETF, which would give investors exposure to PEPE through an exchange-traded structure.
The proposed product would list on the Cboe BZX Exchange, allowing retail investors to buy PEPE via traditional brokerage accounts, and approval could drive significant inflows.
However, PEPE's recent 7% price drop highlights volatility risks for investors, and the filing comes as the asset trades lower, with a price of $0.0000054253, down nearly 7% over 24 hours at around 06:30 UTC on October 3.
The ETF would hold PEPE directly, rather than using futures or derivatives, and would be a passive investment vehicle, seeking to track PEPE's price through a stated benchmark, less the trust's expenses and liabilities.
