The Cardano network is gearing up for the Dijkstra upgrade as the September 1 deadline approaches. Developers are currently focused on testing, ecosystem readiness, and support for alternative node implementations.

Dijkstra Phase 1 will introduce Linear Leios and Nested Transactions, with developers targeting code completion in the fourth quarter of 2026. Linear Leios is designed to increase the number of transactions Cardano can process by adding Endorser Blocks, while retaining the network's existing Praos security model.

The first phase will also bring updates to PlutusV4, new ways to structure transaction data, and changes to protocol settings. These updates will prepare Cardano for Peras, although the feature itself will not be activated during this phase.
