Cardano's Dijkstra era roadmap has been updated to include two stages of protocol upgrades aimed at increasing transaction throughput and accelerating settlement. The first stage, which will feature Ouroboros Linear Leios, is set for code completion in the fourth quarter of 2026 under CIP-164. This upgrade will increase transaction throughput by using supplementary Endorser Blocks.

The same stage will also bundle several transactions and account changes, including nested transactions (CIP-118), guard scripts (CIP-112), account-address enhancements (CIP-159), and simplified staking-reward withdrawals (CIP-181).

The second stage, targeted for the second quarter of 2027, will introduce Ouroboros Peras under CIP-140. This protocol will add stake-pool voting to shorten settlement times.
