Cardano Enters Automated Payments Fray with ADA Integration
Cardano has joined the x402 standard, a technology aimed at facilitating automated payments over the internet. The integration allows applications and artificial intelligence agents to use ADA or native tokens on the network to pay for digital services.
The Cardano Foundation announced the availability of the integration via npm on September 21. With it, developers can create applications capable of sending and receiving ADA and native tokens using HTTP requests.
This means that an AI agent can now pay for an API call directly without needing to create an account, use an API key, or open a specific page to complete the payment.
Cardano's specification was incorporated into x402 in June. After that, engineers worked on the client, server, and facilitator components used by the integration.
The team also collaborated with Masumi Network to include Masumi as a transfer method.
