Cardano Expands Developer Tools with Mesmo Native Library

Cardano has expanded its developer tools by introducing Mesmo, a native library for Python, Go, Rust, and JavaScript. This move aims to fill the remaining 5% of developers' needs that were not covered by the existing Cardano SDKs.

Mesmo works by compiling the mature Java SDK (CCL) with GraalVM Native Image into an ordinary shared library with a plain C ABI. This allows developers to access extra features outside of the current library without requiring a Java Virtual Machine.

The development comes as Cardano continues to explore advancements in its native library, and alternative node development gains momentum. Dingo, developed by Blink Labs, recently reached a major milestone by validating blocks accepted by the Mainnet network.

Meanwhile, the Amaru release introduces improvements to duplex connections, peer management, block fetching, and governance-related functionality. The team is targeting a block-producing pre-release from September 29, followed by a beta approximately four weeks later, and first Mainnet block production in Q4.
