TapTools, a Cardano analytics platform, shut down in June after four years of operation. The team cited infrastructure and development costs as reasons for its closure. However, on September 2, TapTools announced it was returning with an NFT sale to raise funds.

The move was met with hostility from the community, with one user describing the NFT mint as 'dumb and extractive.' Another called it a 'scam or scam.' The team acknowledged they had misread the situation and apologized for their actions.

Charles Hoskinson responded to the apology by sharing a South Park parody of BP's repeated apologies after the Gulf oil spill. He did not add any written comment, leaving the clip to carry the message.
