Cardano Founder Accuses Ethereum of Quietly Adopting EUTXO Design
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has accused Ethereum of quietly adopting Cardano's Extended Unspent Transaction Output (EUTXO) model without giving credit. The claim follows a new research design proposed by Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter that treats simple payments as temporary, one-shot objects rather than permanent account-state entries.
The proposal, which builds on Frame Transactions and EIP-8141, aims to reduce Ethereum's state growth by about 99.8%. Wahrstätter credited Vitalik Buterin with raising the topic.
Hoskinson responded by saying that Ethereum developers are copying Cardano's EUTXO design while avoiding any public credit. He noted that mentioning Cardano is 'literally a crime' inside Ethereum circles.
