Cardano Founder Clarifies Limited Role in Decentralized Network
Charles Hoskinson, CEO of Input Output Global (IOG), clarified his role in Cardano and its governance structure. He stated that he is not accountable for Cardano adoption, despite being the project's founder.
Hoskinson emphasized that he has no official executive role in the decentralized Cardano network, which has transitioned to community-elected representatives for decision-making. This shift was implemented through a series of governance upgrades, including the burning of the original genesis keys, which removed any technical shortcut for Hoskinson or other founding entities.
The decentralized governance system allows on-chain voting for treasury requests, and recently rejected an IOG-backed proposal to allocate 12.29 million ADA for a Bitcoin DeFi product. This rejection demonstrates that community voting carries real weight and can block proposals tied to IOG itself.
