Cardano Founder Sees Crypto Adoption Accelerating Like Internet and AI
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently spoke at the United Nations, where he shared his thoughts on the state of cryptocurrency adoption. He believes that the industry has entered a phase of exponential growth, with blockchain technology mirroring the development of the Internet and artificial intelligence. According to Hoskinson, the adoption of these technologies rarely progresses steadily, but rather accelerates sharply after a slower start.
Hoskinson used the Internet as a primary example, citing how international communications once heavily relied on distance and the network gradually reduced this constraint until it allowed almost instant exchanges worldwide.
He also associated blockchain's evolution with artificial intelligence, a field he wants to integrate more deeply into the Cardano ecosystem. AI models are becoming capable of accomplishing more tasks with fewer computing resources, while blockchain is gaining uses beyond simple cryptocurrency exchanges.
Hoskinson cited the tokenization of financial assets as an example of this growth. The data presented shows tokenized stocks rising from about 600 million dollars at the beginning of 2025 to nearly 3 billion dollars, a fivefold increase in less than two years.
However, Hoskinson emphasized that technological growth does not guarantee price growth, and that a technology can progress rapidly without all tokens linked to the sector benefiting from this growth. He pointed to the example of Cardano, which continued to develop its ecosystem while its token, ADA, went through several difficult market periods.
