Cardano Governance Deadline Looms as Constitutional Committee Vote Hits Snag

The Cardano governance mechanism is facing a critical deadline on September 6, 2026. The current self-governance action has to be ratified by then or it will lapse automatically.

This action proposes filling four of the seven seats on the constitutional committee, which checks whether proposals are compatible with the Cardano constitution. If this action is not ratified, the committee will shrink to three members and lose its ability to confirm governance actions.

The current vote count shows 51.68 percent approval among delegated representatives (DReps) and 18.16 percent approval among stake pool operators. However, the pace of voting has been slow, and it's unclear whether this will be enough to meet the deadline.
