Cardano Joins x402 Payment Network as XRP Surges 24%
The Cardano Foundation has announced that its blockchain has been added to the x402 payment network. This means that developers can now integrate Cardano's (ADA) technology into their applications, allowing users to make on-chain payments through websites and APIs.
The x402 protocol uses HTTP status code 402, or 'Payment Required,' to support pay-per-request services. Cardano's documentation lists several payment methods, including direct address payments, Masumi escrow, and custom smart-contract payments. These can be used by AI agents as well.
XRP has seen a significant surge in value over the past six days, gaining 24% to close at $1.6094 on September 23. The token reached an intraday high of $1.6532 on the same day. It's worth noting that this growth comes despite the Federal Reserve raising the federal funds target range by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4% on September 16.
