Cardano Joins x402 Standard, Enabling AI Agents to Make Payments

Cardano has integrated its ADA and Cardano Native Tokens into the x402 payment standard. This allows developers to build applications that enable AI agents to make payments for online services without relying on traditional accounts or API keys.

The integration is available through the x402 software stack, but it is not yet a mainnet payment system. A real end-to-end transaction was completed on the pre-production network, but testing against mainnet has not been done yet.

Cardano's implementation supports payments using ADA and Cardano Native Tokens, giving developers a way to use the network's assets within x402 payment flows. The facilitator verifies payments and submits transactions without holding users' private keys or moving funds independently.
