Cardano Native Tokens Land on Fireblocks Institutional Platform
The Cardano Foundation has partnered with Fireblocks to bring native tokens onto the institutional custody platform. This move allows thousands of banks, exchanges, payment firms, and fintechs that use Fireblocks to custody, send, and receive these tokens with the same security and policy controls they apply to every other digital asset.
CNTs (Cardano Native Tokens) are minted directly on the Cardano blockchain alongside ADA, making them standard assets instead of bespoke additions. This integration covers two standards: CIP-26, the Cardano Token Registry, and CIP-68, the on-chain metadata framework.
Cardano Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaard framed this move as an infrastructure play. 'Institutions rarely adopt a new asset on its own,' he said. 'Adoption happens through trusted infrastructure.' By bringing CNTs onto Fireblocks, Cardano puts these assets in front of exchanges, payment firms, and fintechs that build on the platform every day.
The announcement is a technical roadmap, not an immediate launch. Support for CNTs is expected by March 2027, and the two organizations plan to scope further DeFi and ecosystem integrations over the same year.
