Cardano Nears Breakout That Could Spark 40% Rally
Cardano (ADA) is nearing a critical technical breakout zone that could set the stage for a roughly 40% rally. As of October 5, ADA was trading near $0.273, up almost 12% intraday, while testing a key resistance confluence around $0.285-$0.30. This zone involves the 100-period three-day exponential moving average (EMA), ascending-channel resistance, and the upper boundary of a broad distribution range between $0.23 and $0.29.
The resistance level has historically capped ADA's upward movements, with previous tests leading to declines of 25%-50%. However, this time, ADA is approaching the resistance with stronger momentum. The three-day relative strength index (RSI) has climbed to around 67, and the price has moved decisively above its 20- and 50-period three-day EMAs near $0.224. A convincing three-day close above the $0.285-$0.30 resistance cluster would mark a structural change.
If ADA confirms the breakout, its next major technical target would be the 200-period three-day EMA, currently near $0.387. This represents gains of around 40%-42% from current prices. The macro environment has also become more supportive for risk assets, with weak US jobs data reducing expectations for another Federal Reserve rate hike in October. As of October 5, markets were pricing only about an 18% probability of an October rate increase, down from 64% a week earlier.
However, the bullish setup has not been confirmed yet. Another rejection at the $0.285-$0.30 resistance zone could keep ADA trapped inside its broader distribution range and expose the token to a pullback toward its 20- and 50-three-day EMAs around $0.22-$0.225.
