Cardano has joined forces with Mastercard Foundation to advance blockchain technology in payments and cross-border money movement. The partnership, which is part of the Blockchains track, will focus on areas such as B2B transactions and settlement.

This collaboration brings another connection to discussions around how blockchain technology can work with global payments. The Cardano Foundation has described this development as a step toward connecting public blockchain infrastructure with global payments.

Meanwhile, Ouroboros Leios, the Cardano network's proof-of-stake protocol, has reached a new milestone in testing. In a recent test, the Leios node achieved a peak of 250 TxkB/s on a local cluster, which is equivalent to about 1,000 simple transactions per second.

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has also shared plans for RealFi, a project that aims to bring stablecoin-based lending and real-world finance to Cardano. According to Hoskinson, RealFi will launch next month and focus on banking the unbanked in Africa.
