Cardano Payment Push Gains Momentum with Mastercard Partnership
Cardano's efforts to push into payment use cases have gained traction after its entry into Mastercard's Crypto Partner Program. The token, ADA, has seen a significant price surge of 8% in just one day and 14% over the past week.
The collaboration with Mastercard centers on payment and stablecoin use cases, including cross-border money transfers, B2B transactions, and settlement procedures. Cardano's developer team also contributed to an open-source payments protocol called x402, which is now available for the Cardano mainnet and test environments.
A hackathon scheduled for October 6-7 in Singapore will drive real-world adoption of this interface, with a prize pool of $27,500 for payment solutions based on AI-agents and x402. Meanwhile, IndiaChain has launched on the Cardano mainnet, handling over 10 million billing records.
The protocol roadmap is also moving forward, with Input Output Global's developers laying groundwork for major development phases, including Linear Leios and Ouroboros Peras. The treasury discipline is tightening, with a new pilot linking grants to actual usage.
