Cardano Payments Roll Out Across Hundreds of x402 Platforms

The Cardano Foundation has announced that ADA is now accepted as a payment method across hundreds of x402 platforms. According to the foundation, this integration marks a significant milestone for the agent economy, with API calls able to be paid for in ADA or any CNT over a web request.

No account, API key, or checkout page is required for services already on x402 to switch Cardano on.

x402 is an open HTTP payments standard that was created by Coinbase and stewarded by the Linux Foundation. The Cardano Foundation joined as an Associate Member in July 2026, along with other notable members such as Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Google, AWS, and Coinbase.

This integration follows a previous announcement from the Cardano X account that ADA is now part of x402 as working code, rather than just a written specification. The payment mechanism has been merged into the x402 repository itself, including client, server, facilitator, and examples that run end to end.
