Cardano Price Crashes Amid Inflation Fears, New Updates in Sight
Cardano's ADA token plummeted to a weekly low on Monday, following a broader market sell-off triggered by rising US inflation data. According to CoinGecko data, ADA traded at around $0.2095, down 1.9% in the day and 5.3% over the week.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics' Producer Price Index report showed final demand prices rose 0.4% in August, with goods prices increasing by 1.1% and services by 0.1%. This uptick in inflation typically means interest rates will remain high for longer, which is bad news for the entire crypto market.
Cardano's network activity has been cooling off as well, with DeFiLlama data showing a significant drop in active addresses and transactions over the past few weeks. In August 7-23, there were 169,325 active addresses and 193,908 transactions, but by September 7-13, these numbers had plummeted to 56,307 and 90,811 respectively.
Despite this downturn, Cardano developers have been working on several updates. Mesh launched a new wallet software kit that works across both Cardano and Bitcoin, while the Cardano Foundation is backing AI agents through Masumi Network. SundaeSwap also confirmed its version 4 protocol will go live on Cardano Mainnet on October 1.
