Cardano Price Holds Steady Amid Declining Futures Volumes and DeFi Activity
Cardano's price has risen by 1.25% to $0.194 on August 6, despite a decline in futures trading volumes and a drop in DeFi Total Value Locked (TVL). According to Coinglass data, ADA futures volumes have dropped from $884 million on August 4 to $591 million on August 6, while the price has moved from $0.199 to $0.1904 during the same period.
The open interest in Cardano's futures has also decreased by 5.8% to $480 million at the time of writing, indicating a decline in speculative demand for ADA. Additionally, CoinGlass shows that Cardano's funding rate has turned negative, suggesting that short sellers are willing to pay a higher fee to maintain their positions as they bet on a price drop.
The DeFi TVL on Cardano has reached its lowest point since March 2023 at 358 million ADA, despite hype surrounding the upcoming network upgrade, which is expected to increase the network's speed by up to 60 times. The DEX volumes on Cardano have also decreased from $2.93 million on August 2 to $1.46 million on August 6.
However, Cardano's price appears to be forming a double bottom pattern, which often suggests that bulls are gaining control. If this rally continues, the price of ADA could reach $0.21. The RSI reading of 67 indicates that the momentum is favoring bulls, and the MACD line is positive and rising, suggesting strong bullish momentum.
