Cardano Price Nears Golden Cross as NIGHT Token Surges
Cardano's price has surged to its highest level since May 15, 2024, reaching $0.2663, which represents a 96% increase from its lowest point this year. The cryptocurrency is on the verge of forming a golden cross pattern, which typically signals further upward momentum. This pattern occurs when the 50-day Exponential Moving Average crosses above the 200-day moving average. Although the pattern has not yet formed, the narrowing gap between these averages suggests potential gains.
Cardano's rally has been supported by strong technical indicators. The price has remained above the Supertrend and Ichimoku cloud indicators, both of which are bullish signals. If the price breaks out of its ascending channel, it could target the $0.300 psychological level and potentially reach $0.50. However, a drop below the key support level of $0.2400 would invalidate the bullish outlook.
One of the driving forces behind Cardano's rise is the performance of the NIGHT token, which has been in a strong bull run. NIGHT bottomed at $0.01500 in July and reached a resistance level of $0.05300 on Saturday, marking its highest point since March 28. Optimism surrounding Midnight's potential as the next major privacy-focused cryptocurrency has fueled this surge. Charles Hoskinson recently stated that Midnight could become bigger than Zcash, citing its broader applications in fields like artificial intelligence and decentralized finance.
Cardano's decentralized exchange (DEX) activity has also shown significant growth. Data from DeFi Llama indicates that DEX protocols in its ecosystem processed over $348 million in transactions last quarter, the highest level since the fourth quarter of 2023. Additionally, the amount of stablecoins in circulation on the network hit a record high of over $67 million, up from $19 million in March. Despite these positives, some metrics like chain fees and total value locked (TVL) have declined.
