Cardano Shifts Focus from Hype to Usability in Bid for 1 Billion Users
Cardano's founder Charles Hoskinson has shifted his focus from attention-grabbing to usability. He believes that for cryptocurrencies to gain widespread adoption, they must become simpler, safer, and more useful in everyday life.
Hoskinson's argument is centered around the idea that crypto needs a new narrative that goes beyond mere hype and focuses on practical utility. To achieve this, Cardano aims to bring 1 billion users into its ecosystem by scaling up its infrastructure, improving privacy, and developing application tools.
Two key scaling strategies are being pursued: Hydra and Ouroboros Leios. Hydra has entered its adoption phase, with successful use cases demonstrated in trading and micropayment applications. Meanwhile, Leios is focused on increasing throughput capacity, with a proposed treasury allocation of 27.7 million ADA supporting development.
The importance of usability and simplicity was also highlighted by Hoskinson's emphasis on decentralized identity and zero-knowledge tooling. These technologies can help protect information while verifying necessary data, which could strengthen Cardano's technology base and make it more suitable for regulated applications, payments, and data-sensitive services.
