Cardano Surges 10% to Highest Price Since May, Outpacing Bitcoin and Ethereum
Cardano (ADA) surged 10% over the past 24 hours to reach its highest price since May, diverging from the modest gains of Bitcoin and Ethereum. According to data, ADA's price rose above $0.27 and was up about 4% since midnight UTC. This strong rally drew attention to the altcoin, which outperformed major cryptocurrencies on the day. Over the same 24-hour period, Bitcoin gained about 1%, while Ethereum rose 0.5%. Bitcoin remained in the $84,000-$87,000 range.
The exact cause of ADA's price increase could not be determined, but two developments may be supporting factors. The RealFi product, announced on October 1, allows users to direct their stablecoins into institutional loans, offering returns of up to 9% annually. Additionally, the network's upcoming Dijkstra upgrade is planned for between late December 2026 and early 2027, with the aim of increasing the network's transaction capacity.
