Cardano Surges on Whale Activity Ahead of CME Milestone
Cardano (ADA) has seen significant price growth over the past week, outperforming leading cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). According to CoinGecko data, ADA's price increased by 19.3% in the last week, 20.9% in the past 14 days, and 18.6% in the last month.
The surge in Cardano's price is attributed to whale activity, with Santiment reporting that large investors have accumulated over 240 million ADA coins in recent times. This substantial accumulation has led some smaller investors to follow suit, further fueling the price rally.
Cardano is also nearing a key milestone on August 9, 2026, when its 75-day period for regulated futures trading on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) concludes. Some industry observers speculate that the end of this period could lead to the approval of a Cardano ETF (Exchange Traded Fund), which may attract further institutional interest.
However, some market risks remain that could threaten the rally's longevity. US Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh has hinted at raising interest rates in September if July inflation numbers trend higher, which could put pressure on cryptocurrency markets. Additionally, delays in regulatory clarity, such as the expected vote on the CLARITY Act, may reduce investor confidence and impact ADA's short-term price trajectory.
