VeChain Sets Course for Interstellar with EVM Upgrade Proposal
VeChain has announced the launch of its Interstellar phase, marking a significant milestone in its Renaissance roadmap. The Interstellar phase focuses on expanding the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility of VeChainThor, making it easier for developers to build and deploy applications on the platform.
The upgrade is based on proposal VIP-255, which incorporates improvements from Ethereum's Cancun, Prague, and Osaka versions into a single consensus hardfork. This means that developers will be able to take advantage of transient storage, memory copy operations, and native support for zero-knowledge proof systems, among other features.
The voting period for proposal VIP-255 will open on August 10, 2026, at 00:00 UTC, and close on August 17, 2026. Validators and eligible StarGate NFT holders will be able to participate in the process.
