Cardano is taking steps to protect its users from potential quantum computing threats. The official Cardano account shared researcher Robert Phair's latest CIP process snapshot on August 23, which included two significant proposals for community review.

CIP-0197 targets wallet seed protection without requiring users to migrate their existing addresses. This proposal supplements existing Ed25519 signatures with zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs of hierarchical deterministic (HD) wallet seed phrases. Think of it as adding a second lock to your front door, one that a quantum computer cannot pick, without replacing the door itself.

Meanwhile, CPS-0034 entered review, outlining a shared framework for consistent Plutus Core behavior and quality assurance across Cardano's multiple node implementations. Fewer smart contract bugs mean stronger developer confidence, and that matters as Cardano competes for DeFi activity.
