Cardano Unveils Pogun Platform to Mirror Bitcoin Assets
Cardano's development arm, Input Output Group, has unveiled Pogun, a platform that allows Bitcoin holders to access decentralized finance (DeFi) services on the Cardano blockchain. Unlike traditional token wrapping, Pogun clones Bitcoin representations on Cardano using BitVM-powered mirroring to reduce trust risks in cross-chain bridges.
The platform plans to launch its credit market in Q2 2026, followed by yield apps in Q3, and full implementation of BitVM by Q4 2026. This initiative aims to unlock Bitcoin's idle liquidity while boosting Cardano's ecosystem growth, backed by a $50 million funding request.
The introduction of Pogun is expected to make it easier for Bitcoin holders to access DeFi services without having to give up control of their keys. This move could have significant implications for the adoption and growth of decentralized finance on the Cardano network.
