The U.S. State Department has launched the Freedom Tech program, a framework designed to advance digital freedom through the use of Bitcoin and other privacy tools.

The initiative brings together private sector professionals with diplomatic roles in a bid to promote cyber surveillance, artificial intelligence governance, and free expression protection.

The program's focus areas include defending First Amendment rights, countering unlawful surveillance, promoting privacy-enhancing technologies, regulating AI, and safeguarding children online.

The U.S. maintains a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve backed by approximately 200,000 BTC seized in judicial proceedings, with the reserve positioned on par with national reserves of gold, petroleum, and pharmaceutical supplies.
