Cardano x402 Testnets Fuel Price Surge as XRP Breaks Above $1.6
Cardano's native cryptocurrency ADA surged 30% in a week, reaching an intraday high of $0.26 on September 23. This price jump followed the Cardano Foundation quietly integrating support for the x402 payment protocol into its official SDK around September 21, then successfully testing it on the pre-production testnet.
The x402 protocol, named after HTTP status code 402 'Payment Required', enables automated microtransactions for AI applications without traditional accounts or payment processors. Cardano's integration means ADA can serve as a settlement layer for these payments.
XRP also rose 22% to break above $1.60 on September 16, tied to the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision and a separate wave of momentum. XRP Ledger already supports x402 and has logged over one million agent transactions, with thousands of on-chain payments processing per hour.
