Cardano’s ADA Jumps 11 Percent Despite Declining DEX Activity
Cardano’s ADA token surged by 11% over the past 24 hours, reaching $0.272, marking its strongest one-day gain since September 18. This rally lifted Cardano’s market capitalization to $10.2 billion, despite a decline in decentralized exchange (DEX) activity on the network.
Data from DefiLlama revealed that Cardano DEX volume dropped from $11.74 million on October 1 to $5.72 million on October 3. This decline raises questions about the sustainability of the recent price surge, as the rally may not be supported by strong on-chain activity.
Over the past seven days, ADA gained around 10%, with 24-hour trading volume at $950 million, approximately 1.5% of the total cryptocurrency trading volume. However, the DEX volume data shows fluctuations, with a peak of $11.7 million on October 1 followed by a drop to $4.05 million on October 4. These metrics indicate that the price movement may be driven by centralized markets or other factors rather than increased usage of Cardano’s DeFi applications.
The long-term perspective shows ADA still down 91% from its all-time high of $3.10, set on September 2, 2021. While the recent rally is notable, it does not necessarily indicate a broader trend reversal or sustained support.
